The Sufferers   

A dark thriller where Jo finds herself thrust into the space between our world and the world of darkness.  Confronted with the reality of her own suffering and its potential impact on the world she must find a way to prevent the release of darkness upon the planet.

Filming:

The movie will be filmed in and around Montgomery, AL from March to May 2014.  We will follow a “community theater” schedule.  Filming will average 1 weekday night per week and 1 full day every other weekend.  Final film length will be between 70 and 80 minutes.  UPDATE-  This is not a big budget film.  Therefore unfortunately it will not be paid.  It will be for credit, copy, food and new headshots if desired.  For the main actors there will be a small stipend ($100-$200) to offset travel costs in and around Montgomery.

Notes:

- This is not a hacker/slasher piece.  We are aiming for a plot driven, intense film.  Therefore we need good actors/actresses. 
- Unlike so many lower budget thriller/horror movies you see there will be NO nudity in this film. 
- We are filming in Montgomery AL.  The schedule includes filming on weekday nights and weekends.  While we will take anyone interested, please keep travel distances in mind. 
 

Cast

Main Characters:

Jo- Female, 30’s-40’s:  A single, strong and independent women dealing with great calamity in her life.  She recently lost her 18 year old son but continues to hold her head up and deal with what life brings her.    

Mark- Male, 30’s-40’s:  Racked by guilt over the death of his wife and child, Mark rambled through life for the last 10 years looking for closure.  He found it in an offer to help right his previous wrongs. 

Michael- Male, 30’s-40’s:  On the surface a born leader who fights for good.  But underneath is a corrupted and evil soul who will unleash destruction upon the earth. 

Walter- Male, 50’s-60’s:  An old academic with an unruly past and fatherly love for Jo.  He is not afraid to unleash a little pain when needed.

Sarah- Female, 20’s-30’s:  An eternally positive women who loves everything about everything.  Jo’s best friend and Walter’s counterpoint. 

Secondary Characters:

Psychologist- No age or sex requirement.

Underlings- Male, 20’s-40’s.

Joey- Male, Late teens:  Jo’s son. (Non-speaking role.  1 short day of filming) 

Child- 8-12, No sex requirement:  (Non-speaking role.  1 short day of filming)
